Happy Birthday Dr. Seuss!

Learn to read, read to love!
Dr. Seuss' imaginative stories make reading and learning fun! Through the use of repetition, rhyme, and colorful illustrations, Dr. Seuss' books help children become better readers. In honor of Dr. Seuss' birthday, my first grade students shared their favorite books during our reading workshop hour. It was really exciting to hear (and see) the students getting very animated while reading to each other! Later during our writing hour I had the class complete a really fun word rhyming activity. Students were given worksheets with 4 Dr. Seuss cat hats and on each hat there was one word that they needed to come up with 4 other words to rhyme with. It was very entertaining and the students did a great job rhyming!
